Herding in Georgia is traditionally men’s job. Shepherds need to take livestock to Alpic zones, which indeed creates certain level of risks. Often, livestock is attacked by wild animals, resulting in their loss. It is important to reduce such risks to avoid significant losses to livelihoods of communities. Thus, introduction of solar voltaic and electric fences is considred as important preventive measure to reduce losses. This is indeed very special situation, however, informing and training communities, including women on this innovative preventive measure is important. However, project ensured engage women from communities in related information sessions and training, to increase their awareness on this preventive measure and so that they know what it is, how to deal with the livestock/wild animal conflict issues, etc.

Project used following communication tools: public meetings with PA administration staff, personal meeting with shepherds and community groups to introduce project activities, the use of social and local media in Project results broadcasting. Training of shepherds in thematic ares.

The project will facilitate sustain traditional activities of local communities by innovative technologies increase their economic development and ecosystem maintenance. Shepherds will ensure care, storage and operation of technologies .

The was implemented in 5 municipalities, PA administration was actively involved in project implementations. Project result was communicated and shared in local media. Furthermore project results presentation event was organized for sharing project results, lessons learned and good practices with interested stockholder. Short documentary was produces and placed in social media channel.
