Local Initiatives for Mitigating the Impact of Climate Change: Linking Improved Livelihoods with an Enhanced Community-Based Practices to Prevent Climate Change
The project is designed to tap from local community resources (human and materials) convert them in globally accepted norms for climate change mitigation targeting the leakage belt and Gola Rainforst National Park. This will include climate smart agricultural activities and agro-ecology practices. The peasant farmers who are mostly women small holder farmers shall benefit from the initiative. There will be small land reclamation accompanied with the cleaning up of polluted streams and waterways to support irrigation of for vegetables production.

The Main Objective is to promote the demonstration, development and transfer of low carbon technologies at the community level. Specifically, the project will enhance the capacity of communities to improve their skills and techniques in addressing climate change; the deliverables include energy efficient stoves (fixed clay stove and handy mobile clay stove), establishment of stove marketing business, development and deployment of energy efficient fish smoking stoves and training of local technicians in stove making.
