Project Characteristics and Results

Notable Community Participation

During the implementation of the project part of the group members were young people (Operator, sound operator) in addition while traveling in regions we tried to communicate and promote energy efficiency principles with the young representatives of local community.

Project sustainability

The awareness raising of Georgia population on traditional energy efficiency principles will encourage and promote the implementation of EF architectural projects, as a result beneficiaries will improve their living conditions and reduce the negative impact on the environment.

Inovative Financial Mechanisms

The project is educational and cognitive and involves extensive mass of people. The TV series will be broadcasted on television, knowledge and experience will be shared with the representatives of various professionals and representatives of Universities (lecturers, students).

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods

The project will support to use energy efficiency houses which has direct benefits to livelihoods

Gender Focus

The project’s gender section speaks about impact on men and women by the series of short films. Based on the traditional role of women in a society, it is considered that women are not interested in building/ construction and thus are not duly informed about the energy efficient practices and its importance in saving the environment. It seems that this is not ‘women’s sphere of interest. However, it is equally important for all levels of society. In the episode of Khevsureti the lifestyle of locals has been discussed in terms of gender issues; so, the special emphasis was made on the benefits of energy efficiency for households. As it is well-known, traditionally women manage housekeeping and for them it will be important to know how to make their expenditures more cost-effective, what technologies could be used for insulation, etc.

Capacity - Building Component

discussions of the films with local municipality representatives, with architecture students will raise their capacity in energy efficiency principles usage in traditional architecture.

A series of cognitive-educational documentary films were distributed to the National Library and incorporated into the electronic catalog which ensured its wide accessibility;
