project demonstrated renovate energy-efficient solid fuel boilers for the combustion of briquettes/chips in public buildings of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region. This particular region have very high rates of deforestation, bringing many problems for biodiversity conservation. Furthermore, the region has signed the Covenant of Mayors for Climate Change and Energy, committing themselves to support climate change mitigation. Although few small-scale biomass businesses are located in this specific region, there is still a lack of awareness in the wider population and local authorities on the benefits of using biomass as fuel. Therefore, the project will not only support the biodiversity conservation but also help to improve the local biomass market, serving as a pilot project for potential replication in other regions of Georgia.
