Project Characteristics and Results
Notable Community Participation
At all stages of the project implementation, youth was engaged in the project activities. One of the main target groups of the project was the coastline traditional fishermen brigades and members of their family, located in the settlements, especially young people. Within the framework of the project, great attention was paid to the school and university students. A seminar and open lecture cycle was organized where about 200 young people participated. They received detailed information on the main aspects of mariculture and possibilities of employment in this field.
Project sustainability
Development of mariculture will create additional jobs and will be one of the important sources of economic revenue in the state budget. The use of traditional fishery resources is the most effective for exploitation of marine farms, because mariculture is the closest area of their activity. Diversifying the source of income by employing in mariculture activities will help local fishermen to improve livelihood conditions. Marcultural products are distinguished with high ecological and high medical characteristics. It should also be noted that the cultivation of mollusks in marine farms positively affects the quality of water. Because mollusks are the habitats with cleansing function and filter water. (One mollusk daily filtered by 60 liters of water) and in this way increases sea-tourism-recreational value.
