Capacity Development Project Local to global chemical management coalitions
Hmong and Kuemu Ethnic group in these 5 villages: Pangbong, Namngern, Kuingui, Pungfard of Ngern District, Xayyabouly Province, are living in a far rural area. Their living is based on farming principles such as cropping maize, upland rice, local fruit, and livestock such as pig, goats and cattle, which environment well suits. Because lack of knowledge, the majority of villagers they are still using chemical fertilizer, pesticide and herbicide in their farming production, cropping and etc. which is very harmful to their health, soil and chemical residues in contamination onto the river. The aim of project is to raise awareness and promote activities among youth in target village for instance is to provide the technical training on how to use pesticide in a safe way, prevent on using chemical fertilizer on agricultural production and set up a plan for tree plantation for forest protection area.
