Performing energy efficiency works to the exterior walls, and the construction of the solid biofuel thermal plant at the Prichindel kindergarten in Busila village, Ungheni district
Performing energy efficiency works to the exterior walls, and the construction of the solid biofuel thermal plant at the Prichindel kindergarten in Busila village, Ungheni district
This project shall contribute in solving two major problems that Busila village is currently facing.
• To protect the environment by reducing the CO2 emissions, by replacing the solid heating fuel (the coal) with the biomass briquettes;
• To reduce the heating expenses at the kindergarten during winter time, by enveloping its walls and roof, and using the biomass energy sources.
Today's realities show that the twentieth century is the period of the greatest discoveries and transformations of human civilization, but also of the most complex and sometimes unpredictable effects on life.
Until recently, the Earth's renewable natural resources were sufficient for the mankind’s needs. Nowadays, as a result of the demographic explosion and unprecedented development of all industrial branches, the need for raw materials and energy for the production of goods has increased greatly, and the intensive exploitation of the earth's resources reveals, obviously, an ecological imbalance. Acid rainfall is increasingly common as a result of the presence of sulfur dioxide in the air due to the development of thermal processes and the use of lower fuels; large quantities of oxides of nitrogen, carbon, salts and oxides of metals, entrained by combustion gases, are discharged into the atmosphere. The second issue is to reduce the costs of heating the kindergarten during the cold weather by using wall energy efficiency measures and using indigenous renewable energy sources.
In Republic of Moldova, most of the energy sources are imported, and their world market price is steadily increasing. Thus, in order to diminish our dependence on these energy sources, we have decided to focus on autochthonous renewable energy sources, which are cheaper, ecologically cleaner, and their use is more efficient.
The implementation of the project will allow to replace the old equipment based on solid fuel, namely coal from the thermal plant of the Prichindel kindergarten in the village of Bu?ila with new equipment based on solid biofuel briquettes and thermal insulation of the exterior walls.
The target group of this project are the 85 children and 24 employees of the kindergarten, and indirectly – the whole locality.
The actions of the project are based on the provisions of the Socio-economic Development Strategy of the Ungheni district „Moldova 2020”, as well as the National Development Strategy: 7 solutions for the Republic of Moldova.
The relevance of the project to the GEF SGP Country Programme Strategy:
The proposed project is in line with the SGP Component 3 of OP6 Low Carbon Energy Access Co-benefits: namely:
• at least 2 innovations of locally-adapted, proven and documented solutions,
• at least 1 project using biomass to produce energy is implemented;
and the SGP Componenta 5 PGM of OP6: CSO-Government Policy and Planning Dialogue Platforms (Grant-makers+):
• at least 4 thematic platforms for enhanced communication and dialogue.

At the beginning of the project's implementation, a launching conference will be organized, where 67 participants will be trained. It shall be published 2 periodical editions in the district newspaper "Unghiul" and regional newspaper "Expresul de Ungheni". also, 2 brochures and 500 flyers shall be edited. The aim, the activities and the results of the project will be communicated to the community at the general meeting of the village, which takes place yearly, and at the ordinary meeting of the Local Mayoralty Council. During the project's implementation, the implementing team will gather a rich experience and practice regarding the community projects implementation. At the final stage, 4 thematic platforms shall be developed: 1. NGO, Mayoralty, kindergarten, club and library platform; 2. NGO, Mayoralty, Center for Investments, Ungheni District Council Platform; 3. NGO, kindergarten, gymnasium, the population of Busila village Platform and mayoralty's web page; 4. Social network Platform - Facebook and Odnoklassniki.
