Cassava Farming and Goat Rearing Cassava.
Cassava Farming and Goat Rearing Cassava.
This project is designed to cover the entire community of Kapata Peninsula in chief Mulakwa’s area, located on the South-Eastern side of Samfya District. Our efforts are in response to climate change challenges the community is facing. Due to cutting of trees by the local people which they use for smoking fish and for charcoal and poor farming methods (chitemene system) has contributed to climate change in our area. The problem of climate change has changed the rainfall patterns, hence has led to poor harvest of many crops which has resulted into poverty in the area. This project is to do cassava farming and goat rearing projects to reduce poverty at family level. We need to do improved cassava varieties which would be a new seed in our area to improve the harvest. This new cassava seed to be cultivated is the early maturity one, because it takes shorter period to mature usually in six months’ time, thus, will suit rainfall pattern. Cassava is the staple food grown in our area, thus will be easier to implement the project.
