Solar power for energy autonomy and forest conservation in Tavush region
Solar power for energy autonomy and forest conservation in Tavush region
The proposed project aims to reduce increasing pressure on forests through application of energy-efficient technologies in kindergartens of bordering Koghb, Bagratashen, Koty communities and Ijevan town of Tavush region. Implementation of the project will be a significant step towards the efforts to reduce carbon emissions at the local level while at the same time, saving forest ecosystems and enhancing their functions.
To achieve the above aim, the project sets the following two specific objectives to reach:
(a) To increase awareness of the population adjacent to the forest on the use of renewable energy sources and energy conservation measures,
c) To demonstrate the possibility of reducing human intervention in forest ecosystems in the context of climate change mitigation through solar energy technologies.
