"Use of pollinator trees to enhance crop productivity in the rural farms adjacent to protected areas".
This project aims to address the decline of honey bee population of honey bees in the Gambia through conservation and integration strategies such as agroforestry farming in communities dwelling around Jokadou National Park, Kiang West National Park and Bao Bolong Wetlands Reserve. This particular project will involve consolidating the capacity of our existing nursery, through provision of pollinator trees for agroforestry on farmers’ fields. The project specifically targets communities living around the 3 mentioned national protected areas.
The project activities will include the propagation of 25, 000 seedlings of pollinator trees for distribution among the selected farmers, capacity building in agroforestry practices and bee keeping all geared towards increasing and diversifying agricultural productivity.
