Biodiversity Conservation, Using and Participation of Local People on Sustainable Community Forest at Hatsan Village, Sobbao District, Huaphanh Province
There are 30 families in Ban Hatsan, Sobbao District, Huaphanh Province, the forest area provides the natural resources which are engaged villager’s livelihood for long times ago. The forest community is abundant with biodiversity, especially herbals, trees, mushrooms etc., and it is also the main food supply for the people in that area. The main occupation of people here is rice farming and collecting non-timber forest products to sell as a substitution to the household as needed. But due to forest community area has not been surveyed and marked the border yet as well as the survey on type of biodiversity not yet also done and therefore, they don’t have detail on what they are available as the diversity inventory, moreover, slush and burn is still widely practiced in cutting trees down for household building, in nearby forest that make more difficult to control and they still lack of proper regulation for natural resources management. Therefore, the project aims to help the promotion on strengthening and participation of community in management of natural resources for sustainable use of forest, developing regulatory frameworks for community forest management and disseminate technical knowledge to improve living standard of community to be better
