Building Local Capacity for Backyard Organic Farming
With the increasing population and urban development, productive agricultural land areas along the coastal areas are converted into residential, tourism resorts small islands faced with productive and loss to coastal erosion from sea level intrusion corroding coastal line vegetation. The local food security is threatened affect local food production when small garden areas reduced. Pango village comprises of 1000 local residents now travel to urban market to buy vegetables. The project is to enhance a local backyard organic garden farmers for demonstration and to support train local people in soil improvement, seed selection and using small land space and producing organic food for home consumption and surplus to support the tourism operation in vanuatu.
