Prevention of land degradation: best practice to restore lands contaminated with radionuclides
The aim of the project is to restore degraded lands through development, demonstration and dissemination of new technologies to grow multiyear grass and niche species on Zhytomyr and Kyiv Polissya landscape contaminated with radionuclides. Two demonstration plots will be established covering around 100 ha of lands where agroecology methods will be applied. The project will contribute to creation of 25 ha of public pasturage to be used by communities in a sustainable way. As well, the project will raise knowledge and skills of the local farmers, build new partnerships with Association of farmers and private land owners of Zhytomyr region.
