Rediscover the Prut meadow
Rediscover the Prut meadow
The purpose of this project is to revitalize the Lower Prut region economically, especially by promoting sustainable tourism activities, raising awareness as to the local protected bird species and incentivising the local community to protect their local environment, based on the benefits they can derive from the activity of eco-tourism. Through these efforts we aim to position eco-tourism as an economic alternative for the locals to their massive migration to more economically developed countries, create more jobs locally and raise awareness as to the local endangered species, living within the ``Lower Prut`` UNESCO Biosphere Reserve .
Moreover, this partnership between the Diaspora (Professional and Student)-NGO’s-Local Authorities, aims to involve migrants as well (especially young people studying in Romania’s biggest academic city centres, such as Gala?i, Braila or Bucharest) in the development of the Lower Prut region by creating interest groups (Ambassadors of the Tourism Development in the Lower Prut Region), which will represent the hard nucleus of any further development efforts. The aim of implementing a local eco-tourism based micro-economy is to stop the labor exodus of youngsters in the Western European countries or the CIS.
At the level of the local community, through the direct or indirect impact of eco-tourism development in the Lower Prut region, we aim to create jobs, improve the activities of local economic agents and developing the infrastructure, at the same time enable a larger contribution to the budget of local authorities through direct and indirect taxation.
