Complex application of low carbon and energy-efficient technologies in Dzoragyur community of Lori region
The project aims at reducing pressure by local population on neighboring forests through application of low carbon and energy efficient technologies in Dzoragyugh community of Lori region. The project has three specific components: i) improve functioning of forest ecosystem services, ii) demonstrate possibility of reducing human intervention in forest ecosystems in the context of climate change mitigation through solar energy technologies, and iii) increase awareness of local population on the use renewable energy sources and energy efficient technologies.
To achieve the above-mentioned, the project is planning to demonstrate low carbon and energy-efficient technologies successfully piloted by the SGP, namely, application of PV and solar thermal systems, as well as use of energy-efficient wood stoves.

Project Characteristics and Results
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Information of the project process and results will be disseminated via “Fortuna” local TV and the official website of Lori Regional Administration. “Lori Student Union” NGO will information and knowledge sharing through publication of brochures and leaflets, as well as conducting seminars and trainings on energy-efficient technologies and use of renewable energy sources.
Capacity - Building Component
Lori Student Union NGO will use the SGP’s “low carbon energy access” practical experience and knowledge materials incubated so far for its capacity building activities. The project plans to conduct as series of seminars and practical trainings for the NGO staff, beneficiary schools and preschools staff, community administration and ordinary people on the “green” energy solutions and associated co-benefits. Basic educational and awareness raising sessions on greenhouse gases and renewables and energy conservation to help mitigate climate change will be also delivered to the beneficiary schools and pre-school children.
