"Driving women's economic activities in Jurunku (North Bank Region, The Gambia) to green economy through the lens of gender equality".
This project seeks to provide diverse opportunities for economic development and poverty alleviation without liquidating or eroding the community’s natural assets by empowering rural young women through access to renewable energy solutions. Providing community facility hubs called Solar Multifunctional Platforms (SMFPs) with equipment and access to renewable energy to promote small income generating activities would be pursued to create decent livelihood opportunities and therefore, female green job creation. Hence green economy also focuses on inclusive growth, the hub will provide services to reduce women’s household workload so that the real crisis for women, time, will not hamper them to access to the formal market or to maintain them into the formal market.
