Project Ba’Do (The Good Project) - Sustainable Farming towards Preservation of Heritage Agriculture and Biodiversity in Long Semadoh, Sarawak
Project Ba’Do (The Good Project) - Sustainable Farming towards Preservation of Heritage Agriculture and Biodiversity in Long Semadoh, Sarawak
Problem Statement:
The community of Long Semadoh Valley is at risk of losing their heirloom seeds, rich biodiversity and land degradation due to the lack of economic opportunities in the villages. As a result, youth migration leaves the ageing population behind to guard their land to the best of their limited knowledge.

Rationale/Justification:
By providing a financial viability through converting the excess produce of subsistence farming communities, it will directly
• incentivize the community to continue and take pride in their sustainable farming practices and environment stewardship;
• protect, conserve the surrounding forest as a living organism and not ‘preserved’ like a diorama in the museum.

Project Objective:
The primary objective of this project is to elevate knowledge and expertise on sustainable farming of heirloom produces among the indigenous Lun Bawang community in Long Semadoh Valley, Lawas; Sarawak leading towards better and sustainable livelihood.
