Strengthen the capacity of urban community forest managers to participate actively in forest protection and community
Problem Statement:
Rapid urbanization in the Greater KL is contributing to increasing pressure on remaining forest and biodiversity. Urban community groups have been vocal in advocating for forest protection but there is a need for knowledge sharing and organization strengthening for them to be effective.

Rationale/Justification:
This project will leverage on the experience of KDCF Society to work with local and state government authorities, professional planners as well as civil society to identity and protect remaining urban forest in the Klang Valley. It will provide a platform and knowledge building to strengthen the effectiveness and sustainability of the network.

Objectives:
The overall objective is to strengthen the capacity of urban community forest managers to participate actively in forest protection and community engagement. In addition, by working with government, planners, and other key stakeholders we seek to explore the potential to safeguard additional green areas. The project will also seek to raise awareness of actions that can be taken to make the urban environment more supportive of native biodiversity.
