GreenTech Rangers - accelerator for sustainable start-ups
GreenTech Rangers - accelerator for sustainable start-ups
GreenTech Rangers ( is startup pre-acceleration programme designed to improve social entrepreneurial ecosystem in Moldova. It integrates various social startup initiatives to create a valuable learning and development journey for young talents and prospective entrepreneurs in Moldova to improve the natural environment in the country.
GreenTech Rangers is focused on nurturing and supporting intra- and entrepreneurial startups specifically in the GreenTech / CleanTech / EcoTech industry. The programme is administered by a consortium of four organisations: MEGA (, Generator Hub / DNT (, EcoVisio (, and YES-Europe. Collaboration of these organizations allows the delivery of a comprehensive, innovative, and engaging educational programme on social entrepreneurship, which in turn is able to nurture social startups contributing to achievement of a number of UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as SDG 7 Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 13 Climate Change.
The goal of GreenTech Rangers is to establish an enabling and supportive environment for social / green entrepreneurship in the GreenTech / CleanTech / EcoTech industry in Moldova. This environment would support the creation of over seven viable GreenTech / CleanTech / EcoTech startups in 2020-2021. Startups from GreenTech Rangers would include both local businesses producing economic and social value and positive environmental impact in Moldova and international “scale-ups” connecting the country with the European GreenTech / CleanTech / EcoTech startup scene.
The objectives of the first edition of GreenTech Rangers include education of 30 young people on different aspects of social / green entrepreneurship, nurturing of at least 7 local GreenTech / CleanTech / EcoTech startups, and their long-term support to become viable social ventures with market value, traction growth, and functional revenue-generating social business model.
The key activities of GreenTech Rangers include organization of consecutive events repeated in each edition of the programme. To achieve the above-mentioned goals and objectives, the program is structured into three levels:
Level I. SEEDLING: Ideation & Preparation includes inspirational and preparation workshops and Eco-Hackathon, where participants form teams and develop their social business ideas into first functional prototypes.
Level II. BLOOMING: Prototyping & Testing features presentations and speeches from existing social entrepreneurs in the country, who have already established startups in the GreenTech / CleanTech / EcoTech industry and are willing to share their experience with the participants. The latter also take part in a Sustainability Bootcamp, where the participating startup teams “evolve” their prototypes into Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) and test them with first customers.
Level III. FRUITING: Launch & Scaling is packed with coaching and mentoring sessions aimed at supporting the participating teams in further development and scaling of their social startups. At the end of the level and the entire programme, successful startups present their results and positive social and environmental impact created and join the GreenTech Rangers alumni network.
The main innovation of GreenTech Rangers is the learning-and-community-building on-line platform. This is essentially a web tool that allows the participants of the programme to benefit from on-line learning, networking, collaboration, and team management throughout the duration of the programme. After “graduation” from GreenTech Rangers, the teams are able to use it as a “launch pad” to transform their social / green initiatives into viable and profitable startups and then to manage their social ventures on-line.
