Environmental restauration on the Tujani mountain peak in the Dajti National park
Environmental restauration on the Tujani mountain peak in the Dajti National park
Dajti National Park is in close proximity to the capital city of Tirana and as the result is the most visited among all the national parks in Albania. As such, this park holds a great potential for acting as an educational tool for the public and for the young generations in particular. Being close to the biggest urban area in the country, the park is under pressure from human development. In 2012, a cellular telephone company was allowed to construct a repeater tower on the most visited peaks of the mountain. Since then, the tower has been dismantled, but a concrete platform is still in place. The area is environmentally sensitive as well as part of panoramic trail. The project will consist in evacuating the concrete structure and restoration of the spot. The event will be used for promotion of the environmental values of the park as well as an example of environmental restoration.
