Poultry and Livestock Farming in the Shepherds Islands
The Project to be located on the Shepherds islands of Tongariki, Buniga, Makira, Mataso and Tongoa to raise poultry in small areas that will contribute to the food and livelihood security of households and manage soil erosion. As well as improve cattle husbandry and management to increase the cash income of farmers through higher turn off of cattle, increase cattle sale prices and employment opportunities.

Project Characteristics and Results
Notable Community Participation
All training conducted, youths will be involved. This involvement will drive their eagerness to engage in chicken farming thus increase the number of chicken in the farm. Youths will also be involved in the repairs and construction of new paddocks, pasture planting.
Gender Focus
Both Men and Women will be involved in this project, beginning from construction of units to management of poultry and marketing of live Poultry and sales of meat and egg in the Market. Also attending training conducted by the Department of Livestock and Department of Cooperatives.Men and women will also be involved in the beginning from construction of fences to shifting cattle in the paddock, marketing of live cattle and sales of beef in the market.
