St. Gabriel’s School Renewable Energy Project
St. Gabriel’s School Renewable Energy Project
The overall goal is to utilise an alternative and sustainable energy source, in this instance the sun, to generate and supply electricity to the national grid. This effort will enable the school to contribute to the national goal of the use of 100% renewable energy by the year 2030. The project will also create environmental awareness and generate funds for future projects which also promote environmental sustainability.

Objectives:
To generate an alternative energy supply with the installation of 222 solar photovoltaic roof mount panels on the school compound by the end of 2022.
2. To generate income by providing an estimated energy output of 153,147 kilowatt hours (KWh) annually to the national grid commencing in January 2023.
3. To educate the school community (students, teachers and parents) on the impact of fossil fuels and climate change for a 13 week period initially.
4. To be a contributor to Barbados’ 2030 goal of 100% renewable energy and a carbon-neutral island, by providing a replicable, sustainable financing model for
schools using renewable energy by January 2023.
