Proposal to Establish a Caribbean Database for Sea Turtle Tagging Records and a Centre of Excellence for Sea Turtle Marking Technologies
Promoting the survival of Caribbean sea turtles via facilitation of population monitoring, range state distribution studies and communication between range states with respect to sea turtle survival issues. Harmonisation of tagging programmes between states, establishment of computerised national and regional databases for tagging records, establishment of a clearing house mechanism for marking technology information, training in database management and development of incentives to encourage people to return tags (or tagging information) to the regional database.
