This publication captures SGP’s experiences and lessons learned on plastics management, spanning not only the area of chemical and waste management, but also international waters and biodiversity conservation. The projects focus on implementing a circular economy either through recycling, reducing and reusing plastics for new products, influencing consumer use and behavior, or developing better waste collection and management practices at the community level. In 2009 the GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP) entered into a partnership Australian Aid to improve the climate resilience of local communities in 42 countries, including 37 SIDS. This publication is a COMPACT Joint Strategy for the Maloti-Drakensberg Park transboundary world heritage site (WHS) developed is close partnership with SGP Lesotho, SGP South Africa, Ezemvelo KwaZulu Natal Wildlife and Sehlabathebe National Park. Funding for the development of the strategy was from the UNESCO in partnership with the World Heritage Centre.
This publication is the COMPACT Site Strategy for the Maloti-Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site developed by GEF SGP in close partnership with the park authorities, Ezemvelo KwaZulu Natal Wildife (EZKNZW) and SGP Lesotho. Funding for the development of this strategy was from the UNESCO in partnership with the World Heritage Centre. A separate joint strategy for the Maloti-Drakensberg Park Transfrontier World Heritage Site was also developed in partnership with Lesotho and Sehlabathebe National Park.
