"We strongly evaluate the exchange among local knowledge and academic knowledge - during our project we enhanced such exchange trough the development of the Participative Experimental Units (Unidades de Experimentación Participativa – UEPs). The UEPs are a unique experience that put together the knowledge of local farmers with academic professionals, in order to enhance the re-establishment of native species in the eastern part or Uruguay. It is not just a productive matter. It also gave a new value to local cultures and local biodiversity."

"The national seeds network is a crucial instrument to support our independence as farmers - other than supporting local seeds production, the network is a very important space of political empowerment for us as farmers. We have to meet and to organize ourselves and to make the network going on. We break trough individualism and we build up collectively a new way of production. In addition, thanks to the network, we encounter very important training opportunities."

SGP is really doing integrated sustainable development, putting the face on development, by paying substantial attention to social inclusion, community well-being, social justice, local economic benefits, local governance, as well as local to global environmental linkages. So SGP exemplifies the true meaning of sustainable development, the original Rio meaning of sustainable development, which was the three pillars – social, economic, and environmental.
