Why and how is SGP important for your country?

"...The National Steering Committee, as a group to the Small Grants Programme, has been very strong since 2009. It has given strong support to the National Coordinator. One reason is because there is real impact on the rural poor. This is why the National Steering Committee always rallies around the National Coordinator. Again, the effort of the National Coordinator to the programme have made it mandatory to all the National Steering Committee Members to make sure that it does not fail. Another reason is that the GEF Small Grants Programme compliments governments and UNDP policy – the policy of "top-down" approach - by using a "bottom-up" approach.
