Why and how is SGP important for the UNDP Country Office?

"The value of SGP is premised on its role as a strategic partner in promoting upstream and downstream synergies. As you may be aware, UNDP believes that such synergies should be proactively supported in all areas of sustainable development. Upstream flows are geared towards influencing policy, while downstream assistance nurtures interventions on the ground and provides concrete actions that give rise to revamped policies. At the UNDP Global Management meeting in Tarrytown last year, it was observed that UNDP, in spite of its upstream orientation, could support downstream activities provided they have potential to inform policy, improve livelihoods and be scaled up. In this regard, UNDP considers SGP an important initiative."
