"I believe that the most significant contribution that the NSC has made over the years is the approval, monitoring and evaluation of the projects that have been submitted by the NGOs and CBOs.  Because of its membership, the NSC possesses a wide variety of professional skills and expertise in the fields of environment, research, capacity building, as well as knowledge of the public, private and non-profit sectors.  The NSC members are also very influential and are good advocates to the mission and vision of the work of the GEF SGP programme. This in itself is unique to the Programme."
