"There are several significant contributions by the NSC. The multidisciplinary nature of the NSC is extremely important as the various perspectives brought to the table help to strengthen projects. The NSC members have a genuine interest in ensuring that the best projects, which fulfill the overarching GEF SGP guidelines and generate the most impact, are the ones that are funded.

The most unique aspect of GEF SGP is its promotion of sustainable use of natural resources for improving livelihoods at the grassroots level, while at the same time strengthening the capacity of community-based organizations."
