"SGP has helped my organization develop a lot of partnerships. It has enabled us to communicate to the government and ministries such as social affairs, social external relations, and a lot of other partners. The SGP grant has also provided us with institutional support, allowing us to buy computers, projectors etc for the project. We are now able to do most of our work from our office- we are well equipped for making impact.
One aspect of the project was reaching out to indigenous populations- these are communities that are very marginalized and vulnerable. [...] A targeted part of the project focused on women, and allowed them exposure to technology and energy. The community expressed that never before had an organization come to be with them, not only to train them, but to actually give them ownership of the project and the know-how of how to do things. All of this has been possible due to the SGP grant.
The project's administration is such that the whole take part in the project. The project revealed new techniques and technology on energy conservation; it enabled women to use less wood to cook their food. They also became self sufficient in producing thermal products- thus providing them with an income generational activity. They are now making a good living. The project wouldn't have gotten there without the SGP! For us, SGP has done so much!
We have already reached 6000 families - all thanks to the SGP grant. Due to the good practices and the excellent operational approach within the communities, this project was developed nationally; a target most projects aspire to. The unique thing about this project is that it is run totally by the community, the people own it. That is an achievement- only possible through SGP grant.
We have done so much due to the good practices we had and the holistic approach in the communities. Our project was selected as 'The Good Project of the Year' and was recognized by the UNESCO. And due to that we were invited to the GEF incentives constituency where we found new partners, were exposed not only to GEF but to all other participants who were there, fostering durable relationships.
