SGP will be participating in multiple events at COP28 and will be highlighting the key role of local communities, civil society and Indigenous Peoples in addressing the climate crisis. Check out SGP's latest publication entitled Climate Change - Loss and Damage: An Evolving Challenge. The publication highlights SGP's 30 years of experience in engaging civil society and local communities on locally-led climate action, adaptation and resilience. The projects presented demonstrate how financial mechanisms with a community and locally-led action window allow vulnerable communities easy and direct access to international funding and can help effectively address some of the loss and damage linked to climate change.

Event: Sustainable finance for tiger landscapes

Venue: Bhutan Pavilion

As an umbrella, keystone and flagship species, tigers are measurable drivers and indicators of biodiversity. Tigers depend on and occur in almost all the forests in Asia. As such, their status is tied to the health of those forests: the carbon they capture and store; the water they retain and release slowly and dependably; the resources they supply to local communities; and other essential ecosystem functions. This event will generate awareness and interest among attendees in prioritising tiger recovery and investing in tiger landscapes as a means to mitigate climate change and meet global biodiversity goals.
It will also promote the Sustainable Finance for Tiger Landscapes Conference (April 22-24 2024) as an opportunity for key stakeholders from across the public and private sectors to collaborate towards effective and innovative sustainable financing for species-focused conservation at landscape scale to achieve major environmental and social benefits.
