SGP EL SALVADOR LAUNCHES NEW PUBLICATION

SGP EL Salvador launches new publication-1On the ocassion of the celebration of the International Biodiversity Day 2010 "Biodiversity for Development", the GEF Small Grants Programme in El Salvador, published the first issue of a series of publications on the "Economic Value of Sustainable Livelihoods" called "Sustainable Artisanal Fisheries: A Community Experience of SGP El Salvador".This series represents the effort of SGP El Salvador of compiling research, best practices and lessons learned that include the contributions of partners in the implementation and monitoring of such local actions and sharing them with other communities, local authorities, the government and the general public. The document evaluates community methods in achieveing sustainable livelihoods by exploring the case of the community El Tercio.

For SGP, this initiative is very important and it hopes this will help other communities in their efforts to protect the environment while improving their livelihoods in a sustainable way. The environmental impact of these initiatives is local, regional, national and global in scope.
