The proponent organized this workshop in cooperation with SGP management to familiarize NGOs with GEF/SGP guidelines and train them on proposal writing in order to compete for SGP projects. Partner NGOs assisted new ones by discussing their projects and exchanging ideas regarding the difficulties and challenges facing their projects and the lessons learned from their experiences. Several participant NGOs in this workshop later applied for funding and six of them were approved.

In addition to local community participation, the workshop was also attended by policy makers and has encouraged other donors and national institutions to provide additional support to the SGP.
