Strengthening Municipal Bodies and Communities to implement Community managed Systems of Solid Waste and advocacy of the MSW Rules 2000 on a wider scale
The basic objective of the project is to reduce landfills and subsequently methane emission into the atmosphere through enhanced capacities of local, decentralized community institutions in solid waste management in partnership with the municipal bodies. In doing so, the project will encourage local systems to be more proactive and responsive in reducing waste and increasing recycling of wastes into value added products that would sustain livelihoods of rag pickers. NIDAN will develop a knowledge centre on the best practices in solid waste management in the country and document and disseminate soild waste management practices adopted in the country.
