Feasibility study of land conservation in Wadi Khabash and its tributaries, Ottma, Dhamar, Yemen
Ottma district is an area of natural beauty was announced as protected area. Due to its mountainuous nature, steep slopes, roads building and human activities, the district is suffering from termandous land degardation caused by soil errosion and deposition in lower system. The result is flood water diversion towards terraces land at the mountain slope and a long wadi sides causing its erosion. The problem is evident in the whole watershed therefore for effective solution to this problem need a hydrological study and design of flood water control and soil retention measures along the water shed and of wadi Khabash and its tributaries.
The local NGO has no capacity to undertake hydrological engneering task that lead to the design of effective intervension that will control flood and reduce soil errosion and sedementation at lower wadi bed.
