Solar Energy as an Alternative to Coal and Electricity for Heating and Hot Water Generation in Nesin Foundation Building
The project aims to use solar energy as an alternative to coal and electricity for heating and hot water generation in Nesin Foundation building. It is fairly common in Turkey to use solar power for heating of water, but use of the solar panels for heating of the building is revoultionary in Turkish context. The Foundation in question is a well-known institution in Turkey, and in their premises, they take care of children without families and secure their education. The project is designed to have two phases, in the first phase, the solar system to heat the building and the water will be installed, thus reducing the use of coal and electricity. The first phase also aims to identify other possible uses for renewable energy sources such as wind and biogaz in/around the premises and to raise funds (sponsorships) for their implementation to be made in the second phase project. The first phase project also aims to promote the results of the project by presentations, conferences and seminars. The project also includes the training of NV staff and the Foundation-Children on the use of renewable energies as well as energy conservation. The Foundation is actively pursing to become a premise that is self-sufficient, together with its production and consumption functions, including organic agriculture, energy conservation, renewable energies and social and cultural activities to ensure capacity building of the children it takes care of.
