Demonstration of Biogas in Küre Mountains Kastamonu, Celalli Village
The project aims to demonstrate the possible uses of biogas which is revealed as a result of the anaerobic conversion of the animal wastes as a source of renewed energy and, for that reason, present the construction of an innovator system which is able to respond the local necessity of energy and is appropriate for the usage in a local level. In that way, both the problems caused by animal wastes will be decreased on a large scale and economically productive renewable energy source will be submitted to the usage in a small scale.
There are 47 rural settling areas in the pack region of Küre Mountains National Park. People living in that region have utilized totally from the forest sources in survival and heating for long periods; today, this utilization is completely restricted by law with the declaration of the National Park. Still the locals use timber (illegal) and LPG for their heating needs.
With this project, there will be one reactor produced.

Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
All phases starting from the construction to final use by the individuals will be documented and published as a guide book that will enable others to replicate the process. Also, this project will have close relations with its sister project TUR-05-10 and will contribute to the abolition of negative approaches towards anaerobic reactors in Turkey. Moreover, as these two reactors differ quite a lot in terms of design and technology as well as the local conditions (climatic, cultural, types of biomass used) they will increase the chances of replication of the reactors in different settings throughout the country.
Notable Community Participation
The demand for a biogas reactor came directly from the village and the villagers. The Cooperatives union will be providing logistical and supervisory support, but the reactor construction and use will be directly done by the villagers themselves.
