The project consists of building and installing 95 improved firewood stoves for 95 women and their households. This will result in environmental benefits, through diminished use of firewood and to health benefits through less indoor air pollution, as well as providing relief to the domestic work tasks of the women.
A tree nursery will be established to reforest 5,000 Zanthoxylum preserum, Inga sp. and Nectandra globosa trees on communal terrain.
There will be workshops on the environment, reforestation, tree nurseries, use and maintenance of the stoves, gender equality and organisation.
The project will be run by the local women, with assistance from their spouses in building the stoves and the reforestation activities.
