The conservation of Kalahari melon seeds
The Kalahari Water Melon Seeds are being over harvested and over utilized and this project seeks to raise awareness and to provide training on how seeds can and must be collected and managed in order to ensure sustainability.
Project Objectives:
1. Establish Kalahari Melon Seeds storage and processing centre for King Nahale Conservancy.
2. Raise conservation awareness campaign aims to reduce over-utilization of indigenous plant and encourage sustainable harvest and proper handling of KMS for international market.
The King Nehale Conservancy is a registered conservancy in the Oshikoto region.
