Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biodiversity at Sedili Kechil River Basin (A Nominated Ramsar Site)
Sedili Kechil river in Johor is in the process of becoming Malaysia's sixth Ramsar Site. Probably nowhere in Malaysia can one find such unique and distinct gradation of riverine biodiversity in freshwater ecosystems as in Sedili Kechil rive. This project will transfer the lessons learnt from Tasek Bera, Malaysia's first Ramsar site, where local communities are actively participating in maintaining its ecological integrity and the sustainable use of the wetland resources to sustain livelihood of local community in this unique area.
