Management, Conservation and Rehabilitation of Natural Resources in RUMPE Lake Community Fisheries
The project is aiming at protection, conservation of biodiversity resources and contribution to increase nutrition and food security of communities around ROMPE Lake through the establishment and protection of community conservation area. This project has proposed to establish a community natural conservation lake of 5.5 ha, aiming at increasing fish stock, and protection of 15 ha of existing flooded forest, reforestation 15 ha of flooded forest around this conservation lake which help to improve sanctuary for fish, biodiversity and water birds in community Fisheries areas.

The project also provides education to communities to love, protect natural environmental resources which lead to stop illegal fishing. In addition to that, project have empowered women in participation, leadership and group management through organizing them into 6 groups (15 women per group) to participate in protection, conservation of natural resources and actively take part in other community?s activities.

The project has the objective to manage and conserve of local natural resources and use it sustainable for livelihood of Rumpe community fisheries members by:

1. Supporting community fisheries committee in the process of managing, conserving and rehabilitation of natural resources though establishing a conservation lake (5.5 ha), reforestation of 15 ha of flooded forest and protection of 15 ha of existing flooded forest.

2. Promote and encourage community fisheries members to understand the important of natural resources for their livelihood and get them participated in the protection and taking care of those natural resources.

Gender Focus
Around 90 women are formed into saving groups and get training on small business and revolving fund process and management. 18 women will become saving group leaders and members of the community committee who will be actively implementing project activities.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
As a result from the lake conservation, fish stock will be increased that enable people to catch 50 percent more fish in a sustainable way to support their living and for their income generation.
