Conservation of Community Natural Lakes and Replanting Flooded Forest for Improving Community Livelihood
The project will support sustainable community-base activities in the Tonle Sap Lake that demonstrated and promoting the establishment of 3 community conservation areas (12.50 ha), reforestation of flooded forest around community conservation areas (12 ha) and protection of 3 ha of existing flooded forest.
They will also address the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources mainly fisheries and flooded forest in the area under increasing human pressure on those resources by organizing 9 women saving groups to create community-based alternatives livelihood through fish processing. The project has the objective to:
- Increase fish stock and flooded forest through establishing community conservation areas were established and flooded tree reforestation.
- Raise awareness of community to love their environment, protection of natural resources, environment and participation in stopping illegal fishing.
- Empower 9 women groups (around 70-100 women) to activly participated in protection, conservation natural resources management and all community activities.

Project Characteristics and Results
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Conservation areas become ecotourism, which community can earn more income for their family. As fish stock is expected to increase by 50% at the end of the project, around 684 families (1130 people) will increase their income by 50% through increased fish catch. People have more foot security.
Capacity - Building Component
During its implementation, the project will provide trainings for community fisheries committees to strengthen their capacity on project management, community fisheries development, as well as fishery law. It also provide to women groups training on small business, saving and gender to make sure that they are able to manage the groups activities effectively by themselves.
