New Solution to old Problem: Rogda Community Based Environmental Rehabilitation and Protection Project
This project involves activities focusing on awareness raising on environmental problems; galley treatment, i.e, treating farm areas which are heavily affected by galley erosion through gabion development; building the technical capacity of steering committees and selected active farmers on environmental problems, establishing and supporting environmental school clubs to participate in the project to contribute towards environmental protection and community education; nurturing seedlings of various types of fruit trees, indigenous trees and grasses; introducing Moringa tree (Shifara); preparation of organic compost for agro forestry trees development and assisting selected farmers in making appropriate traces on their farm land; planting grasses of various species on erosion affected farm lands

Capacity - Building Component
Activities on soil protection are expected to be implemented on farmlands of individual farmers that will be their own properties and farmers will take care of the developed systems and replicate it in other areas. To this end trainings are to be given to farmers on the skills of protecting soil erosion in order to enhance their capacity on this area.
