Interventions for the sustainable Management of Biodiversity in Fombe, Wad 1, Nyanga District Phase 11
The project is situated in Fombe ward 1 of Nyanga District in the extreme northern end of Nyanga District. The ward falls in agro-ecological region V, which is characterized by high temperatures throughout the year, with low and erratic annual rainfalls of less than 600mm. the underlying problem to sustainable management of biodiversity in fombe is gold panning, stream bank cultivation and unsustainable harvesting of resources. The project is facilitating the establishment of tree nurseries at Fombe, Chimusasa and Kodzaimambo Primary schools in the ward. The project is also encouraging propagation of Jatropha, Cassava, Moringa and other multipurpose trees and shrubs that have a nutritional values.
