Tourism popularity in our country grows every year. Steady increase of unorganized tourist?s stream leads to exigency of tourism ecologization. Excessive anthropogenous influence on separate territories of the buffer zone of Sairam-Ugams National Park has resulted in desertification of some region sites. Real threat has appeared to preservation of ecosystem integrity and biodiversity, because of the forest cutting for economic needs, cattle overgrasing, wild animals poaching, herbs preparation intensification, pollution of territories by household waste products.

Organization of ecological tourism in the buffer zone to the Sairam-Ugam National Park will promote minimization of spontaneous tourism negative consequences, and will create sources of income for local communities. The project positive experience will reveal optimum plan for organized ecological tourism development and use it for others SPAs and communities.

The project goal is reduction of negative anthropogenous influence ob biodiversity in the buffer-zone to the Sairam-Ugam National Park by involving local communities of Tonkeris, Kaskasu, Dihankol villages into development of ecological tourism activities.

The project tasks are
1. To develop and carry out training programs to educate local people in essentials of ecological tourism activity in Kaskasu and Tonkeris villages.
2. To promote formation and strengthening of existing ecological tourism infrastructure, creation opportunities for local community to render complex tourist services
3. To develop 6 tour itinerary, mark the routes and provide garbage-collectors
4. To create Ecological Tourism Public Council (ETPC) among local residents, representatives of the National Park, regional akimat, Ugam NGO to make observance of the developed recreational loading norms and coordinate tourists streams.
5. To carry out advertising-information actions for demonstration of ecological tourism opportunities of Ugam region?s territories.

Expected results:
1. As a result ofthe trainings and seminars more than 24 people from Tonkeris, Kaskasu and Dihankol villages will be trained in ecological tourism business essentials (guides, conductors, horse-keeper, guest houses service personnel).
2. 6 existing guest houses will be redecorated. 2 additional guest houses for tourists equipped with bathrooms for tourist convenience will be opened. Jurt and tent camping functioning and bring incomes of rent will be established.
3. Six new tour itineraries will be developed and marked with the purpose of recreational loading removal from other existing popular routes. New routes will be equiped with garbage-collectors.
4. 4 camping for accommodation of 10-20 independently arriving tourists will be equipped.
5. Ecological Tourism Public Council will be created to develop community based ethnical tourism control activity on ecological tourism and recreational loading norms observance on routes and all Ugam region. Public Council will include representatives of local communities, State National Park, regional akimat, Ugam NGO.
6. 2000 booklets with information on sights and natural beauty of the region eill be published. 500 instruction for tourists will be also published.
7. Informational campaign will be carried out to attract tour operators from South Kazakstan oblast, Almaty and workers of mass-media.
8. Information about the project will be placed on web-sites of Ugam NGO, tour agencies and other interested organizations.
9. Project participants interviews, tourists responses, articles about the project will be placed in mass-media (not less than 6 publications)

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Development of ecological tourism in the buffer-zone to the Sairam-Ugam National Park will create additional sources of income for local communities. New workplaces (guides, conductors, service sphere, etc) will be created. Incomes of guest houses and jurt/tent camping will belong to their owners and the attendants.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Distribution of booklets, instruction for tourists, carrying of information campaign, placement of information in Internet, publication of articles in mass-media will promote wider distribution of information about the project and area among potential tourists.
