Capacity Building & Skill Enhancement of GEF SGP Partners, Local Groups, Communities and the SGP team on GEF Thematic Areas
Goal of the project: The gosl of the project is "To improve the performance of the GEF Small Grants programme in India through strategic focus, effective conceptualization, management and implementation of projects and to integrate a strategic focus into the program".
Objectives of the project: The objective of the project are:
1) To enhance skills, understanding and capacities on the GEF Thematic areas and cross cutting issues.
2) To Involve and create awareness amongst all major stakeholders at all levels within the Small Grants Programme in the effective management and delivery of teh program. The various levels within The SGP are defined as:
a) Institutional level: National Host Institution(NHI), NGOs, CBOs, Government Ministries and Departments, Nationalized and Regional Rural Banks, Public/Private companies involved in addressing the developmnt priorities and other related institutions.
b) Communities: All sections of communities involved in the project, inclusive of all socio-economic classes, gender, tribe, caste, etc.
c) Individuals: Officials, Loacl people's representatives, researchers, academicians.
3) To form and promote cohesive groups with capability to take positive actions in order to raise performance of the SGP in terms of culling out of GEF'able projects, focus on National and UNDP GEF priority areas, guidance to partners outreach and implementation of projects.

Project Characteristics and Results
Gender Focus
During the capacity building exercise, special focus will be to ensure on Gender equality. More clarity on how this needs to be ensured in project implementation phase shall be discussed.
Notable Community Participation
The ?Communities? represent the multiple stakeholders who will be benefited through the numerous workshops, trainings and visits. Thus well organized, articulate individuals, village communities and NHI team shall also be used as resource persons in sharing their knowledge, skills and experiences.
