Promotion of trees planting, facilitating construction of public toilets for Kyaka town though done at a low scale but they all have a global environment impact,

The emphasis will be on project planning, implementation and monitoring of project activities. The community will be encouraged to organize themselves plan and manager their own activities in the way they think is appropriate to their needs and circumstances, The capacity building conducted to the community leaders, Obuhangwa members and other active CBOs will equip them with knowledge that can be used beyond the life of this project, The community leaders will be involved in the awareness/ exposure visits to see the way other forests and rivers basins are conserved. By creating leaders awareness and exposing them it is very likely that the leaders will continue to support the project activities for they are aware of what are the project benefits, The presence of microgrants project will facilitate Obuhangwa Group to contact other sources of funding because now the group have proposal design knowledge and it will be having some experience of working with donor, Project activities which serve the purposes of environmental conservation as well as income generating for example agro forestry and tree nurseries will continue to be established so that they can generate reasonable income to keep the ball rolling at the same time to ensure effective forestation in Kagera River basin. The established and trained community committees will take over the responsibility of managing the project activities from the project leadership.

The project benefits include increased cross-border relationships among the CBOs working in the microgrants program in Tanzania and Uganda; restored vegetation cover, reduced pollution to the Kagera river, reduced siltation and industrial agro-chemicals entering Kagera River, reduced number of farmers encroaching the Kagera River basin, improved human sanitation through use of improved pit latrines, increased awareness of community in environmental conservation, reduced pressure to the Minziro forests. The above benefits indicate how the project ideas have incorporated innovative financial mechanisms.

The tree nurseries will provide employment to the youths and women and enable them to get permanent source of income by selling the tree seedlings and thus alleviate poverty, Strengthening collaboration among the environmental conservation stakeholders in Tanzania and Uganda will improve the interaction of communities at the border, Tree planting will avail more firewood for the community uses

To conduct training to community facilitators on the protection and conservation of the forests and water basin, To train the communities on how to prepare and enforce by laws which will conserve the Kagera river,
