Promotion of trees planting, facilitating construction of energy efficient stoves and facilitation of community capacity building on environmental education though done at a low scale but they all have a global environment impact,

The project benefits include increased community knowledge on environmental conservation, increased vegetation cover, increased availability of fuel wood and fodder for the community use, reduced rate of fuel consumption per household, increased safe and sufficient water for domestic purposes harvested from the rainfall and increased sustainable household income from beekeeping activities. The above benefits indicate how the project ideas have incorporated innovative financial mechanisms.

The project facilitates construction of rain water harvesting tanks for the households and also constructs energy efficient stoves. In additional to that the project facilitates establishment of woodlots which will be used to produce timber and firewood as by products for the households. Availability of water and fire woods within a short distance will reduce the women walking distance to collect firewood and water.

The project will involve the community in the whole project cycle from planning through implementation as well as evaluation. During the awareness meetings, suggestions and reactions from the public will be invited, discussed, compiled and summarized for the future project consumption. However, ELCT has linkage and close working relationship with the existing Farm Extension Centers, local NGOs, CBOs and other religious institutions which facilitates experience exchange, extend extension services, join hands to reinforce the conservation program in the project sites and make sure the project is sustainable under the community ownership. Community capacity building will also be given it due weight, all the community groups who will benefit from the project will be trained first on how to offer the proposed services. These groups include those who will oversee tree nurseries and bee hive manufacturing equipment. The groups will continue to produce and selling the products to the fellow community members at subsidized prices. Women groups who will be trained on how to manufacture low consumption fuel stoves will keep on producing the stoves at cost even after the donor support is over.
