Community Centre for Applied Research, and Academic Training in Madjadjane Community in Maputaland Centre of Endemism
The project site is rich in flora and birdlife internationally recognized for its high endemism for these species. The project will address some of the problems that communities, learning and research agencies face of lack of field stations to carry their studies. Initially will be established research facilities for applied research related with flora, fauna, water and prospective markets for sell of community products that have socioeconomic and tourism value. Madjadjane community will partner with The World Conservation Union (IUCN) and the Department of Forestry from University Eduardo Mondlane. Those will provide technical support and will bring students to undertake fieldwork with lecturers. The community will gain capacity to know and understand the value of their resources and derive further benefits like tourism, new markets for their products, and protection of biodiversity.
