Wadi Rum Project Development Stakeholder Workshop
Wadi Rum Project Development Stakeholder Workshop
Over the past decade, GEF Small Grants Programme GEF SGP has been very successful at implementing more than 130 local initiatives in Jordan, in an effort to consolidate the needs of local communities with nature conservation and environmental protection. GEF/SGP is currently expanding its presence and support in the Wadi Rum region, as it is highly relevant to the GEF strategic focal areas and operational programmes.

The project will conduct a stakeholder workshop in the Wadi Rum in an effort to:

 Further expand GEF/SGP presence in the region.
 Enhance the process of creating a cluster of small projects around the Wadi Rum basin.
 Establish partnership with other initiatives and programmes managed by the Rum Protected Area and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone and other donor initiatives, in particular the USAID/ Siyaha project.

In the context of the project, the IUCN WESCANA Protected Areas Program will facilitate the process of developing sound project proposals with relevant stakeholders in the Wadi Rum basin that are linked to the SGP mission and objectives.
